TAKE A WORM FOR A WALK WEEK - THE MONROE TRANSFER - 2008

"TAWFAWW have a fairly unique take on rock music. Turn it all up as far as it will go and then go at it like billy-o but stop before it gets annoying. Of the thirteen tracks on the album, only ‘Lips, Eyes and Arseholes’ breaks the two minute barrier, kind of Napalm Death for the Indie Kid generation. It’s not all about the comedy though. Beneath the jokey exterior there’s some serious musicianship at work. Tracks like ‘Snuffleupagus’ with its discordant guitar riff and stop start angularity and ‘Pumpkin Pie’ with its sudden jerky pace changes could not be done if these guys could not seriously play. The drummer especially impresses, working his kit like an epileptic on speed. If Mike Patton was about 21 years old and from Glasgow I strongly suspect he’d be in a band like Take A Worm For A Walk Week." ECHOES AND DUST
